Music Video with 3D and AI
The world’s oldest photographs meet the latest technology

”Can you use AI to make ancient photographs sing?” That was the question behind the music video for Host’s song “Divine Emotion”.

First, we needed some type of walls to hang those pictures on, so we built a house inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” in 3D-Studio.

“Awesome video and excellent song”
– one of many YouTube commenters

With the walls in place, it was time to try to breathe life into two hundred year old photographs. It turned out to be a bit trickier than we thought…

We needed two separate AI tools to enlarge the photos, match their facial movements to the singer’s voice, and output an acceptable result.

The first photographs were taken in the 1800’s. Early cameras required the subject to sit absolutely still, which is why everyone in those photos has a stony facial expression. In a music video done in classic horror film style this is a plus – and that the photographs’ age makes them copyright-free is an added bonus.

The black goo that spreads along the walls brings objects to life with its touch, and acts as a common thread throughout the video.

Please enjoy the video below – and see if you can find all the hidden Easter eggs!
